It's been a bumpy start for iPhone 14 owners. Recently, Apple shipped iOS 16.0.1 specifically to address issues with moving information, approval, and photos with reach. Today, the organization definitely does not approve of iMessage and FaceTime.
Additionally, in another help message, Apple admitted that "iMessage and FaceTime may not have completed activation on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Master" and acknowledges that problems can occur anyway, even after updating to iOS 16.0.1.

I've reached out to Apple for an explanation of what iOS 16.0.1 contains and the problematic data in the spilled update. I will update this post when/if I get a response. In the meantime, I would definitely advise more experienced iPhone owners to opt for iOS 15.7 as opposed to iOS 16, which is currently trash for iPhones, all things being equal.
